What is Lorem ipsum text?

How do I use the Lorem Ipsum generator?

Where does dummy text save time?

Dummy text saves time when a layout needs realistic text blocks but approved copy is not yet available. Common uses include:

• Sentences help test excerpts, callouts, quotations and notification text.
• Words are useful for navigation labels, buttons and small components where overall length matters more than grammar.

Limits and data handling

Lorem ipsum does not test every kind of real content. It may include ordinary spaces and punctuation, but it does not exercise prices, dates, product codes, accented names, long unbroken URLs or non-Latin scripts. Those inputs can wrap and align differently, so add representative examples before approving a layout.

No. Latin-script placeholder text will not expose right-to-left behaviour, different line-breaking rules or the space required by other writing systems. Use representative text in the actual language when testing localisation.

Why does my spellchecker mark Lorem ipsum as incorrect?

Most spellcheckers treat the words as misspellings because the passage is altered Latin rather than normal English. You can temporarily disable spellchecking for the placeholder or set the text language appropriately, but restore the correct language before adding final copy.
