Copy your Google Maps business link on a phone or computer, choose between a listing and a pin, and use it in your bio, reminders and QR codes.

To get a Google Maps link to your business, search for it in Google Maps, open its listing, tap Share and copy the link, or pick an app to share it to. On a computer, open Google Maps, go to the place, open the menu, choose Share or embed map and then Copy link. Paste the link wherever customers look for directions, such as your website, your Instagram bio, a booking confirmation or a QR code by the door.

Below are the steps for phone and computer, which link to use for which job, and what to know about putting a Google Maps link behind a short link. Google's steps were checked against Google Maps Help on 19 October 2026.

How do I get a Google Maps link on my phone?

  1. Open the Google Maps app.
  2. Search for your business, or touch and hold the map to drop a pin.
  3. At the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
  4. Tap Share.
  5. Choose Copy or Copy link if your phone shows it, or pick an app to share the link to.

Steps from Google Maps Help, Share a map or location with others. The Android app works the same way.

How do I get a Google Maps link on a computer?

  1. Open Google Maps in your browser and find your business.
  2. At the top left, click Menu.
  3. Click Share or embed map.
  4. Click Send a link, then Copy link.

The same window has Embed a map, which gives you HTML code to put a map on a web page. If you want a map on a Digily Link page, our guide to adding Google Maps to your Digily Link page shows the options.

Should I share my listing or a directions link?

A shared listing link opens your business in Google Maps, where people can tap Directions. If you'd rather send people straight to the route, Google's Maps URLs documentation describes a directions format, https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination= followed by your address or business name. See Google Maps URLs. For most businesses the listing link is the better default, because people also see your hours and reviews.

Should I link to my business listing or to a pin?

Link to your business listing if you have one. When someone opens it, they see your name, opening hours, photos and reviews as well as the location, and they can tap Directions straight away. A dropped pin only shows a point on the map.

A pin is useful when your listing's marker is in the wrong place for visitors, for example a pub with a car park round the back, a market stall inside a covered market or a salon on the first floor of a shared building. In that case, share the pin for the entrance and say so, such as "Entrance on Mill Lane, next to the bike racks".

If your marker is wrong on Google Maps itself, adjust the pin in your Google Business Profile's address settings rather than working around it.

Where should a business share its Google Maps link?

  • On your website's contact page and in the footer.
  • In booking confirmations and reminder messages, so people don't have to search on the day.
  • As a "Get directions" button on your link in bio page.
  • In your email signature, if customers visit you in person.
  • On printed material, as a QR code on leaflets, event tickets or a sign at the car park entrance.

Google Maps links behind a short link

The link you copy from the Google Maps app may be a shortened address such as maps.app.goo.gl. It works as it is, but you might still want your own short link in front of it, for two reasons. You can see how often it's opened, and you can change where it points if you move premises, without reprinting the QR code on your leaflets. That flexibility comes from the short link, so a QR code that holds the Google Maps link directly can't be changed later.

One detail is worth knowing. Digily Link short links have an app linking option that tries to open supported apps directly. For Google Maps it recognises full google.com/maps addresses, not the maps.app.goo.gl share links. So if you want the short link to try the Google Maps app, open the shared link in a browser first and use the full google.com/maps address it ends up on. Without app linking, the link may still open in the Google Maps app or in the browser, depending on the phone, the apps installed and where the link is tapped. Test it on an iPhone and an Android phone before you print it.

Should I use a location QR code or a link QR code?

Digily Link has a Location QR code type that stores your latitude and longitude in the code as a geo address, not a web link. It's static and needs no link, but what happens when it's scanned depends on the phone and its default maps app. A URL QR code with your Google Maps link, or with a short link to it, opens your actual business listing, which is usually what customers want. If you choose the location type, test it on several phones first.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Google Maps link expire?

Google's sharing instructions don't give an expiry date, but listings and locations can change. If you print the link, put it behind a short link you control so you can update it, and check it now and then.

Can I share a Google Maps link without the app?

Yes. Use Google Maps in a browser on your computer, then Share or embed map and Copy link.

How do I put a Google Maps link in my Instagram bio?

Add it as one of your profile links, or as a "Get directions" button on a link in bio page alongside your bookings and menu.

Can I make a QR code for my Google Maps location?

Yes. Create a short link to your Google Maps listing, then a URL QR code from it with Select from existing links, or paste the Google Maps link and tick Dynamic QR code. Don't rename the short link after printing. Digily Link's free plan includes 20 QR codes.

Why does my Google Maps link show the wrong place?

Check you copied the link from your business listing, not from a search result for a similar name. If the listing itself is wrong, update it in your Google Business Profile.
